Swirl Studios is a one-person operation based in Burton-on-Trent. Here's a bit about me and the kind of work I do.
I started designing websites in the early 2000s, with a Nintendo fan website which had over a million posts during its peak.
From here, I worked on developing my skills with a browser based MMORPG game called Samurai War, and an IRC based chat service called Chatbomb. Whilst none of these services are still online and active now, they can be viewed in the web archive, the Wayback Machine.
More recently, I completed both my undergraduate degree in Computer Science and postgraduate degree in Cyber Security at Birmingham City University, and I'm currently working towards my PhD in Cyber Security.
Some of my side projects I'm working on right now include a robotic arm powered with computer vision, and an autonomous underwater vehicle for environmental monitoring.
A closer look at the two I mentioned above.
A multi-axis robotic arm project. Placeholder description for now - Jon to fill in details about what it does, when it was built, and what was involved.
An AUV project. Placeholder description for now - Jon to fill in what it does, the systems involved, and what was learned along the way.
